The attached spreadsheet has a quick analysis of what US Steel paid, in total and $/ton of capacity. Most news reports seem to include only the cost of Stelco equity, this spreadsheet adds in the assumed debt.

Arcelor Mittal is facing a shareholder revolt in Europe led by a group of hedge funds who want more for their shares than the Mittal formula currently offers. They go to court on Tuesday. This is similar – but less financially signifcant – to the revolt Mittal faced in Brazil earlier this year. Let’s just see if the link at the end of this story does its job.
