Based on reported import licenses, US long products imports fell 27% from 389,000 short tons in May 2024 to 285,000 tons in May 2025. The decline was mainly due to lower rebar imports from Egypt, Turkey, and Bulgaria, which was offset by a strong increase from Vietnam.

US long products imports in the first five months of 2025 were 7% lower than in the same period last year. This was the result of lower rebar (-11%), structural angles & channels (-45%), light shapes (-38%) and merchant bar (-37%) imports. In contrast, wire rod and parallel flange sections imports rose between the first five months of 2024 and the first five months of 2025.
