In the week ending December 26, 2009,
domestic raw steel production was 1,445,000 net tons while the
capability utilization rate was 60.6 percent. Production was
975,000 tons in the week ending December 26, 2008, while the
capability utilization then was 40.9 percent. The current week
production represents a 48.2 percent increase from the
same period in the previous year. Production for the week
ending December 26, 2009 is down 2.3 percent from the
previous week ending December 19, 2009 when production was
1,479,000 tons and the rate of capability utilization
was 62.0 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through December 26, 2009 was
62,802,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 51.2 percent.
That is a 37.0 percent decrease from the 99,561,000 tons during the

same period last year, when the capability utilization rate
was 81.4 percent.

Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week
ending December 26, 2009 in thousands of net tons: Northeast Coast:

139; Pittsburgh/Youngstown: 93; Lake Erie: 44; Detroit: 93;
Indiana/Chicago: 359; Midwest: 190; Southern: 464 and Western:
63.

In the week ending December 19, 2009,
domestic raw steel production was 1,479,000 net tons while the
capability utilization rate was 62.0 percent. Production was
975,000 tons in the week ending December 19, 2008, while the
capability utilization then was 40.9 percent. The current week
production represents a 51.7 percent increase from the
same period in the previous year. Production for the week
ending December 19, 2009 is down 4.4 percent from the
previous week ending December 12, 2009 when production was
1,547,000 tons and the rate of capability utilization
was 64.9 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through December 19, 2009 was
63,357,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 51.0 percent.
That is a 35.7 percent decrease from the 98,586,000 tons during the

same period last year, when the capability utilization rate
was 81.4 percent.

Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week
ending December 19, 2009 in thousands of net tons: Northeast Coast:

135; Pittsburgh/Youngstown: 84; Lake Erie: 47; Detroit: 79;
Indiana/Chicago: 373; Midwest: 201; Southern: 487 and Western:
73.

In the week ending December 12, 2009,
domestic raw steel production was 1,547,000 net tons while the
capability utilization rate was 64.9 percent. Production was
975,000 tons in the week ending December 12, 2008, while the
capability utilization then was 40.9 percent. The current week
production represents a 58.7 percent increase from the
same period in the previous year. Production for the week
ending December 12, 2009 is up 1.9 percent from the
previous week ending December 5, 2009 when production was 1,519,000

tons and the rate of capability utilization
was 63.7 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through December 12, 2009 was
59,878,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 50.8 percent.
That is a 38.7 percent decrease from the 97,611,000 tons during the

same period last year, when the capability utilization rate
was 81.4 percent.

Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week
ending December 12, 2009 in thousands of net tons: Northeast Coast:

143; Pittsburgh/Youngstown: 94; Lake Erie: 49; Detroit: 84;

975,000 tons in the week ending December 5, 2008, while the
capability utilization then was 40.9 percent. The current week
production represents a 55.8 percent increase from the
same period in the previous year. Production for the week
ending December 5, 2009 is up 1.4 percent from the
previous week ending November 28, 2009 when production was
1,499,000 tons and the rate of capability utilization
was 62.8 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through December 5, 2009 was
58,331,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 50.5 percent.
That is a 39.7 percent decrease from the 96,636,000 tons during the

same period last year, when the capability utilization rate
was 81.4 percent.
