In the week ending October 3, 2009, domestic
raw steel production was 1,415,000 net tons while the capability
utilization rate was 59.3 percent. Production was 1,850,000
tons in the week ending October 3, 2008, while the capability
utilization then was 77.5 percent. The current week production
represents a 23.6 percent decrease from the same period
in the previous year. Production for the week ending October 3,
2009 is up 1.7 percent from the previous week
ending September 26, 2009 when production was 1,392,000 tons and
the rate of capability utilization was 58.3 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through October 3, 2009 was
44,751,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 47.6 percent. That
is a 46.8 percent decrease from the 84,097,000 tons during the same

period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 88.0
percent.

Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week
ending October 3, 2009 in thousands of net tons: Northeast Coast:
116; Pittsburgh/Youngstown: 90; Lake Erie: 26; Detroit: 71;
Indiana/Chicago: 419; Midwest: 174; Southern: 459 and Western:
60.

raw steel production was 1,392,000 net tons while the capability
utilization rate was 58.3 percent. Production was 2,017,000
tons in the week ending September 26, 2008, while the capability
utilization then was 84.5 percent. The current week production
represents a 31.0 percent decrease from the same period
in the previous year. Production for the week ending September 26,
2009 is up 0.5 percent from the previous week
ending September 19, 2009 when production was 1,386,000 tons and
the rate of capability utilization was 58.1 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through September 26, 2009 was
43,336,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 47.3 percent. That
is a 47.3 percent decrease from the 82,247,000 tons during the same

period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 89.7
percent.

Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week
ending September 26, 2009 in thousands of net tons: Northeast
Coast: 115; Pittsburgh/Youngstown: 101; Lake Erie: 21; Detroit: 69;
Indiana/Chicago: 386; Midwest: 166; Southern: 475 and Western:
59.

utilization rate was 58.1 percent. Production was 2,017,000
tons in the week ending September 19, 2008, while the capability
utilization then was 84.5 percent. The current week production
represents a 31.3 percent decrease from the same period
in the previous year. Production for the week ending September 19,
2009 is up 1.0 percent from the previous week
ending September 12, 2009 when production was 1,373,000 tons and
the rate of capability utilization was 57.5 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through September 19, 2009 was
41,944,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 47.0 percent. That
is a 47.8 percent decrease from the 80,230,000 tons during the same

period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 89.7
percent.

Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week
ending September 19, 2009 in thousands of net tons: Northeast

utilization then was 84.5 percent. The current week production
represents a 32.0 percent decrease from the same period
in the previous year. Production for the week ending September 12,
2009 is up 2.3 percent from the previous week
ending September 5, 2009 when production was 1,342,000 tons and the

rate of capability utilization was 56.2 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through September 12, 2009 was
40,558,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 46.7 percent. That
is a 48.2 percent decrease from the 78,213,000 tons during the same

period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 89.7
percent.
