ArcelorMittal and Gerdau Ameristeel both released Q4 and 2007 full year results today. These results have been added to the NoS quarterly financial results spreadsheet. With the exception of US Steel, all the companies we have entered into the spreadsheet so far have achieved very similar EBITDA/ton results for 2007. Excluding US Steel, the range is $123 per ton to $135 per ton.
And on the subject of ThyssenKrupp, here’s a short video from DeutscheWelle (in English) describing the start up of the ThyssenKrupp number 8 blast furnace in Duisburg.
In the continuing NoS series of gathering profiles of some of the largest steel companies in the world, here’s an extremely comprehensive profile of ThyssenKrupp Steel made by the company itself in October of 2007. There are details of the parent corporation, but much more detailed information about the two main steelmaking groups, carbon & stainless. You can read it below (select the link ‘Open Publication’ for a larger view) or download it from the ThyssenKrupp site here
Statistics Canada has just released the November 2007 monthly steel shipment report. Shipments of steel mill products by Canadian mills were just shy of 13.7 million metric tonnes through November. This is very similar to 2006, when shipments through November were slightly above 13.7 million metric tonnes.
We maintain a link to these monthly Stats Canada reports on the Nerds of Steel data page. Look under resources on the right hand side.
